NWC DISABILITY CLUB CRICKET LEAGUE 2017

NWC senior cricket launched an additional league in their already busy schedule with the aim of ensure that cricketers that are intellectually impaired are given a platform to show case their cricketing talent, and to also give opportunities to coaches in this particular stream to grow and develop their administration, umpiring, scoring and their game awareness.

After two meetings of planning NWC and the Intellectually impaired schools agreed to start the league (s) with two divisions, i.e. Under 15 and Under 19 Pool. These saw twelve teams registering for Under 19 Pool and 10 teams for the Under 15 Pool. Each pool was divided into four regions based on the accessibility of cricket facilities as well as the travelling distance. The format that was agreed upon for this particular league is T20 and two matches per day with the Under 15 Pool playing in the morning and under 19 Pool taking place in the afternoon matches.

1. Lichtenburg/Potchefstroom region:

2. Brits region:

Mmekwa Masedi | u15 and u19
LM Mokoena | u15 and u19
Neo Mathabe | u15 and u19
Regonne Bapo | u15 and u19

3. Rustenburg region:

Iteko | u19
Reoleboge | u15 and u19
Temogo | u15 and u19

4. Taung/Vryburg region:

Lillian lehetla u15 and u19
MM Sebitlwane u15 and u19

The league played on Wednesdays starting on the 08th March 2017 until the 29th March 2017 as per the regions, with the winners of the regional pools going on to the semi-finals.

The Semi-Finals took place on the 26th april 2017 at Potchefstroom boys High, where we saw Retlametswe and Neo Mathabe qualified for the under 15 finals, with Regonne bapo and Temogo qualifying for the under 19 finals. The finals were also held in Potchefstroom and Potchefstroom Boys High were again the hosts for this ground breaking event.

Temogo cricket team were the eventual winners of the U19 league with Regonne bapo taking silver, and Retlametswe cricket team took the honors of the U15 league with Neo Mathabe taking silver.

NWC Senior Cricket department will like to thank all the individuals that contributed towards the success of these league from the clubs that prepared facilities for regional matches, umpiring and scoring departments for allocations, teams and coaches, NWC staff for the support not forgetting the coordinators from all the regions for facilitating and ensuring that the matches/fixtures are honoured. We are indeed very grateful and appreciate everyone’s efforts.
